SUMMARY The Asphalt Quality Control Technician is responsible for assisting the QC/QA Lab Manager in designing, organizing and implementing a quality product.
This process includes but may not be limited to managing all activities related to the safe production of hot mix asphalt by maintaining a safe working environment and safe working practices in all plant operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Comply with all safety policies, procedures and established safe practices.
Work with the Production Team to meet customer needs and identify and develop new applications for existing products and developing new products.
Perform sampling, processing and testing materials used in the production of Hot Mix Asphalt in accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, INDOT, KYTC, US Army Corps of Engineers and FAA.
Communicate with QC/QA Manager, Plant Operators, Field Superintendents, State Hwy.
officials and Customer Engineering Representatives, as necessary, in a professional manner.
Prepare and maintain Daily Progress Reports, QC Charts and testing records.
Evaluate test results and communicate with QC/QA Lab Manager to assist with maintaining compliance with specifications, including mixture blend changes.
Perform maintenance and calibration of lab testing equipment and document findings.
Perform HMA mix designs.
